University of Minnesota Medical School
2020 Commencement Ceremony

Friday, May 1, 2020, 2:00pm to 4:00pm
(Will be held virtually)

Celebrating Virtually

In March, the University of Minnesota announced it would be postponing or canceling this spring’s Commencement ceremonies. Because many of this year's graduates will be moving across the country for residency and the uncertainty of COVID-19, the 2020 Commencement ceremony will not be rescheduled to a later date.

Instead, the Medical School will host Commencement virtually on May 1, 2020. Just like any graduation, each student will be celebrated individually with the reading of their names and a unique addition—photo and video.

Students have the opportunity to submit either photo or video by April 10:

  • Photo/Text - A photo (does not have to be a professional headshot) with written parting words to classmates or words of gratitude for their support network (no more than 50 words).
  • Video - A video (no longer than 15 seconds) with parting words to classmates or words of gratitude for their support network. This video should be filmed horizontally or landscape, not vertically.

Note: If you don’t send anything, we will use only your name and photos from your ERAS headshot and White Coat Ceremony.

Submit Photo/Video

By April 24, students will receive an email with the virtual connection information for Commencement on May 1.
