Mieke Beth Thomeer, PhD

Mieke Beth Thomeer's research uses quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches to consider how sexualities and gender shape intimacy and health dynamics within romantic relationships in mid- and later-life. In addition, she conducts research on family ties and processes more broadly, including parent-adult child ties and childbearing experiences, with this research including a continued focus on aging, gender, and sexualities. Her research on childbearing histories and later-life health has been funded by the National Institute on Aging, and she also has served as a co-I and consultant on multiple National Institutes of Health-focused projects on the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ people.
