Contact Information

• Keep your contact information up to date with AMCAS
  • AMCAS & Admissions:
    • Report all new contact information and name changes with AMCAS and the Office of Admissions via email to [email protected]
  • U of MN:
    • Once you receive your Student ID number (Spring 2027), or if you already have a University x500 email address, any changes you make in AMCAS must also be updated directly with the University, including current addresses. Instructions for updating all your information with the University can be found at OneStop
    • Items which you are REQUIRED to keep up to date with the University and Medical School include:
      • Names
      • Addresses
      • Contact Info
      • Emergency Contacts (yes, this is REQUIRED)
    • Any changes to you legal name?

      • Submit the Request to Change Legal Name and/or Gender(Sex) form

         

Submit Your FAFSA starting October 1, 2026 - March 1, 2027* (priority deadline for all financial aid materials)

*You will see a deadline of March 1st on the financial aid application materials; however, this deadline is waived for new matriculants accepted on or after March 1st.

• Go to the Federal Student Aid website to complete the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• University of Minnesota Federal School Code: 003969 (ALL three UMN Medical School campus locations apply using the U of MN Twin Cities federal school code.)
• Watch for communication from the Medical School Financial Aid Office in early 2027 for further financial aid application information and instructions.

Certiphi Criminal Background Check

• You will receive an email from Certiphi with a request for a background check starting January 1. Be sure to check your Spam folder periodically in case it is sent there.
• Complete the background check within two weeks of receiving the request. This allows for ample processing time.

UMMS Plan to Enroll Deadline

• As an accepted student, you may select "Plan to Enroll" in the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool starting February 19. If your first choice is the UMMS, we hope you will indicate your "Plan to Enroll" status as early as possible.

UMMS Commit to Enroll Deadline

• If you are holding acceptances at medical schools other than UMMS, we reserve the right to rescind our acceptance.

Applicants may request delayed matriculation. The deferral period is limited to one year and applicants are restricted from applying to other medical schools. Applicants may request a deferment by May 1. Any applicant accepted after May 1st who requests a deferment will be considered if spots are available.
