We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Simmons joined the Cardiovascular Division to serve as the Interim Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program. After Dr. Simmons completed medical school at Temple University, she continued her training, combining her residency in Internal medicine and Pediatrics at Yale University. She remained at Yale for her fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology and advanced fellowship training in Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Simmons proceeded to be appointed as the Medical Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology at Presbyterian Medical Group in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There she successfully collaborated with local, state, and hospital leaders to improve access to critical cardiac care in rural parts of the state where no congenital cardiac care was available. She brings her passion, clinical acumen, and steadfast interest in the clinical transition of patients with congenital heart conditions from pediatric to adult care and in optimizing the multidisciplinary care of adults with congenital heart conditions.
