Education & Training
We offer educational activities and training programs for medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, and community physicians.
We are active at all levels of medical student education.
We have eight family medicine residency programs—five in the Twin Cities and three in Greater Minnesota.
Our fellowship programs include hospice and palliative medicine, sports medicine, behavioral health, clinical informatics, and human sexuality.
The department officially launched a Program in Sports Medicine in 2013 and has been a leader in primary care sports medicine education, research, and practice for more than 20 years.
Part of residency training, programmatic courses range in topics such as obstetrics, sexual medicine, sports medicine, and psychiatry. Selected courses are also open to medical students, community physicians, and health professionals.
We offer a couple of continuing medical education credit-bearing courses for family physicians.
