Dr. Jay Allen is a full-spectrum family medicine physician who supervises obstetrical, inpatient, and outpatient resident encounters. He has a split position with his own clinic and the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program.

Bio
Mary Braaten, MD, is faculty at the University of Minnesota Duluth Family Medicine Residency. She grew up on the South Side of Chicago and attended Northwestern University Medical School. She completed her residency at the West Suburban Family Practice Residency, serving the West Side of Chicago.
Braaten first practiced at Family Practice Community Wellness Center, serving an inner-city Latino population. She completed a faculty development fellowship at Cook County Hospital and taught with the St. Elizabeth Family Practice Residency. After 6 years she and her family moved to Northern Minnesota where she joined a rural practice in Deer River, working part-time.
After working in Deer River for ten years, Braaten joined the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program as faculty in 2013 and she continues to do some rural ER work. In her free time, she enjoys time with her husband and four children.

Bio
Dr. Casey attended the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and completed her residency in Sandusky, Ohio, at Firelands Regional Health Center. Her first job was as teaching faculty at St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Residency in Toledo, Ohio, and she has been teaching in family medicine residencies in Ohio or Pennsylvania since then. In her position before coming to the Duluth Family Medicine Residency Program, she was privileged to be the founding program director of a family medicine residency in Lima, Ohio. When not teaching, she loves hiking, camping and traveling with her husband and especially loves going to visit her son, daughter, and son-in-law.

Dr. Casey's clinical interests and expertise include integrative medicine, preventive medicine, and dermatology.

Bio
Dr. Giammar joined the Duluth Family Medicine Residency program in April of 2019. She had been practicing full scope family medicine in Superior, Wisconsin prior to this. Her first job after completing her residency at the University of Minnesota North Memorial program in 2005 was with Fairview. She practiced full scope family medicine in Apple Valley, MN, until 2009, when she joined as faculty at North Memorial. She remained core faculty at North Memorial’s residency program until 2015, when her family relocated to the twin ports.

Bio
Dr. Schilling is a clinical psychologist with interest in complex diagnostic presentations, including the interplay between medical conditions, neurodevelopmental conditions, and family systems variables. Experience with a wide variety of mental health diagnoses and treatments, with previous specializations in family therapy, trauma-informed interventions, FASD, and autism. Consultation as part of several multiple multidisciplinary clinics (Myelomeningocele Clinic, Neuromusculoskeletal Clinic, FASD Clinic, ASD Clinic).

John Wood, MD, is faculty at the University of Minnesota Duluth Family Medicine Residency. His practice experience includes full spectrum family medicine at Sawtooth Mountain Clinic in Grand Marais, Minnesota, and emergency medicine in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
