PAID TIME OFF (PTO) & LEAVE
Paid time off (PTO)
- Twenty-one days per contract year. Designed to cover vacations and unexpected absences not covered by paid leave.
Additional paid time off
- Jury duty, court appearances, bereavement (1-5) days, voting, and six holidays (depends on rotation).
Parental leave
- Upon request, a trainee may take six weeks of paid leave related to the birth, adoption, or gestational surrogacy of a child. The parental leave will begin at a time requested by the trainee but not more than two weeks before the due date or adoption event and no later than thirteen weeks after the birth or adoption event. Must be uninterrupted and consecutive during the term of fellowship.
Unpaid leave - May extend training.
- Extended periods of leave available with FMLA.
- Other unpaid leave at program director’s discretion.
RETIREMENT PLANS
Residents are eligible to enroll in two plans: University of Minnesota Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) and the University of Minnesota Section 457 Deferred Compensation Program (457 Plan).
REIMBURSEMENTS
Business expense allocation
- Up to $1,000 reimbursement per year for software, conference expenses, medical association memberships, and clinical textbooks and journals
Minnesota license and DEA registration
- Permit and licensure application fee reimbursed
- Reimbursement for the DEA fee is calculated on a prorated basis, corresponding to the length of the training. If the training lasts for one year, the reimbursement will cover one third of the cost of a three-year DEA.
Moving allowance
- Up to $1,000 payment for relocation expenses
