Prenatal Group Visits is a group-based approach to providing high-quality care for African American women from low-income households who are at high risk for preterm births.
Prenatal Group Visits are offered through the University of Minnesota Physicians Broadway Family Medicine Clinic to female patients ages 16 to 40 years old.
The group-based model being tested at Broadway is unique because it uses interdisciplinary providers (medical, behavioral health, nursing, and an obstetrics educator) to carry out the groups. This allows for a holistic approach to care. The prenatal group model is being tested with 30 women in the group-based care and 30 matched control women from medical records.
