Rahul Kapur, MD, Accepts Position of Director of the Program in Sports Medicine
Dr. Kapur joined the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health in 2018 as faculty for the St. John's Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program and the Program in Sports Medicine. He trained in family medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) in Philadelphia, completed his sports medicine fellowship at TJUH, and earned a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine.
"Since joining our department, he has demonstrated his passion for teaching as the director of central sports medicine and musculoskeletal (MSK) education for family medicine residents and the medical student sports medicine electives as well as directing MSK education for St. John's," said Bill Roberts, MD, MS.
Dr. Kapur will be succeeding Dr. Roberts, who has served as director of the Program in Sports Medicine since 2019.
Before joining the department, Dr. Kapur was the founding program director for the Penn Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship (2010-2018) and faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he served as chief medical physician for Penn Athletics (2007-2018). Currently, Dr. Kapur practices clinically at M Health Fairview Clinic - Phalen Village and the M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center in Minneapolis.
Dr. Kapur brings a wealth of experience in sports medicine, including having served as team physician for University of Pennsylvania prior to coming to Minnesota and currently serving as team physician for the Minnesota Twins and St. Paul Saints baseball teams, USA Women's Lacrosse, and St. Paul Johnson High School.
