Alejandra Gutierrez Bernal MD named CV Associate Director of DEI

Alejandra Gutierrez Bernal MD has been named Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for the Cardiovascular Division.

Dr. Alejandra Gutierrez Bernal completed her Internal Medicine training at Cleveland Clinic in 2017. She then moved to the University of Minnesota to continue her training and completed both Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship as well as Critical Care Fellowship. Dr. Gutierrez Bernal joined the faculty in 2021 and has become an invaluable member of the Critical Care Cardiology section.

We are pleased to share her appointment as the inaugural Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for the Cardiovascular Division. In this role she will lead the DEI efforts for faculty, staff and learners throughout the division and will actively provide input to establish divisional direction and strategy. She will collaborate with the Medical School and Department of Medicine DEI leaders, serve as DEI mentor for faculty and staff engaged in research and scholarship, and advise on faculty and fellow recruitment committees.
