Congratulations to our department’s Residency Coordinator, Falon Montreuil, recipient of the 2023 Debra L. Dooley GME Coordinator Excellence Award!

This award honors program coordinators for their in-depth understanding of the accreditation process, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and continued effort to improve graduate medical education programs. Falon was nominated by DOM faculty, staff, and trainees in recognition of her contributions and dedication to the Internal Medicine Residency Program.

Falon has been in her role as the Internal Medicine Residency Program Coordinator since November 2021, and has been a coordinator at the University of Minnesota since 2007. Some of her many successes with the program include streamlining processes and databases through the creation of designated portfolios for each resident, and implementing the use of the GMEdIS database to manage Resident Assessment Committee data. Falon is also active in Graduate Medical Education (GME) level committees including the Coordinator Advisory Work Group (CAWG) and the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) as the coordinator liaison. On receiving the award, Falon stated “I appreciate the kind words from my faculty, colleagues and residents, and all the support and encouragement I've received since I've joined IM. I can't imagine a better place to work!”

Falon was presented with a plaque acknowledging her accomplishment and her name will also be added to the perpetual plaque located in the Medical School’s GME Office.
