Through nominations by their peers, the University of Minnesota Academies for Excellence annually recognizes the most distinguished scientists, educators, and clinicians amongst our ranks. Awardees are inducted to and receive lifetime membership in one of four academies; Academy for Excellence in Clinical Practice, Academy for Excellence in Health Research, Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and Academy for Excellence in Team Science. Last month, seven Department of Medicine (DOM) faculty were named to the four academies for their outstanding contributions and demonstration of the highest level of ethics and professionalism.

The following DOM faculty were amongst the 2023 inductees:

The Academy for Excellence in Clinical Practice

Those selected have demonstrated their ability to deliver the highest level of clinical care, and/or developed and implemented an important innovation for clinical care delivery with proven efficacy using appropriate metrics as further defined by their college or school.

The Academy for Excellence in Health Research

Those selected have demonstrated excellence in research as measured by impact in basic and/or applied health science at the lab, clinic, school, community, and/or population level.

The Academy for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Awardees have demonstrated exceptional scholarly contributions to advance learning in their schools and across academic programs in the University of Minnesota.

Academy for Excellence in Team Science

This award was established to acknowledge the valuable and significant contributions made by an exemplary interdisciplinary team conducting biomedical or health care research to address significant health challenges.

Details on a recognition event are forthcoming. In the meantime, visit Moos Tower to view the 2023 recipients added to the Academies for Excellence wall plaques.
