Summary
Andrew Olson, MD, FACP, FAAP, is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he practices Hospital Medicine and Pediatrics. He serves as the Head of the Section of Hospital Medicine and Director of Hospital Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Dr. Olson’s academic work focuses on understanding and improving clinical reasoning and decreasing diagnostic error as well as strategies to improve clinical reasoning performance through feedback in the clinical environment. He has led or participated in multiple national and international projects focused on improving diagnosis and health professions education.

Dr. Olson also serves as the Director of Medical Education Research and Innovation at the Medical Education Outcomes Center within the Medical School, focusing on linking educational with clinical and workforce outcomes in health professions education. He serves as the Chair of the Education Committee of the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine.
