Medical interests: Full-spectrum family medicine, such as: Ultrasound and minor procedures including joint injections and contraception options, dermatology, addiction medicine, rural health, sports medicine, preventative and lifestyle medicine, and osteopathic manipulative medicine.

Personal interests: I love spending time with my family and friends. In my free time, you will find me enjoying all the amazing year-round amenities that Minnesota has to offer. I enjoy hunting and fishing, watersports, snowboarding, hiking, camping, and bonfires. I am a faithful Minnesota sports fan, which means I am disappointed every year but always hopeful for next year!

Why St. Cloud: I was born and raised in Minnesota, not far from the St. Cloud area, and I wish to continue to serve as a family medicine doctor in this great state. The St. Cloud program provides such a supportive and conducive environment to help train residents into confident, well-rounded physicians. The faculty and staff have such a passion for fostering learning and growth while providing top-notch care to a diverse patient population. I wished I could schedule all of my medical school rotations at this site because I loved the depth of knowledge I was acquiring while also maintaining great work-life balance.

Career goals: Deliver holistic, patient-centered, optimal healthcare. I wish to emanate a full-spectrum family medicine physician where patients view me as a resource they can utilize to help achieve any and all of their healthcare needs and goals. Whether it be procedural care, acute care, chronic disease management, or lifestyle medicine, my aim is to educate patients and equip them with the knowledge so health and wellness is within their control.

Aleena Tahir, MD

Why St. Cloud: I chose the University of Minnesota St. Cloud Family Medicine Residency Program because I had an excellent interview experience and felt a strong connection with the faculty and residents. Everyone was welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in resident success. The program's culture, training opportunities, and commitment to comprehensive family medicine made it the right fit for me and my career goals.

Career goals: My goal is to complete family medicine residency and pursue a sports medicine fellowship. I want to provide comprehensive primary care while helping patients prevent, diagnose, and recover from musculoskeletal injuries. I am particularly interested in exercise medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and helping patients maintain active, healthy lifestyles throughout their lives.

Medical interests: Full-spectrum family medicine with specific interest in rural health, primary care, obstetrics and women’s health, dermatology, and behavioral health.

Personal interests: I enjoy cooking, reading fiction books, and outdoor activities such as walking along the river, as well as traveling and spending quality time with family.

Personal interests: Biking, weightlifting, cooking (BBQs), traveling.

Career goals: I want to promote health equity and improve patient outcomes. I also want to pursue a fellowship after my residency. 

Eaman MM Hamid, MBBS

Medical school: Omdurman Islamic University - Khartoum, Sudan

Medical interests: I'm passionate about family medicine because it allows me to provide holistic, continuous care to diverse patients. I’m especially interested in preventive medicine, patient education, and serving underserved communities.

Personal interests: I enjoy gardening and cooking. I also love spending time on the lake or by the river—it reminds me of my childhood and helps me feel peaceful and grounded. Spending time with my family and taking short trips to visit friends also helps me recharge.

Why St. Cloud: I chose the University of Minnesota St. Cloud program because of its strong focus on rural and underserved care, which aligns with my background and goals. I value the supportive environment, diverse patient population, and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships while growing as a well-rounded family physician.

Career goals: My career goal is to become a compassionate and skilled family medicine physician serving underserved communities. I want to provide comprehensive, culturally sensitive care with a strong focus on prevention and patient education. In the long term, I hope to be involved in community health initiatives, possibly global health work, and contribute to training the next generation of physicians through teaching and mentorship.

Rebekka Jacobs, MD

Medical school: University of Minnesota Medical School - Duluth

Medical interests: Broad-spectrum family medicine with a specific interest in rural medicine, women's health including contraception and reproductive care, pediatrics, preventative care and dermatology.

Personal interests: During my free time I enjoy relaxing with my family and dog, gardening, baking, and knitting more hats than I know what to do with. 

Why St. Cloud: I chose St. Cloud because of its emphasis on rural medicine training, the ability to complete most of my rotations at a single site and the work-life balance of their residents. It is also ideally situated between my and my husband's families, allowing for us to stay close and connected to our support system. 

Career goals: I look forward to being able to provide broad-spectrum family medicine in a rural clinic and get involved with advocating for women's reproductive rights.

Hunter Melius, MD

Medical school: American University of Antigua College of Medicine 

Medical interests: Procedural care, chronic disease management, infectious disease, full spectrum care.

Personal interests: I enjoy playing basketball, running, rock climbing, and hiking. I enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes and trying new activities to challenge myself mentally and physically.

Why St. Cloud: I chose this program for the supportive environment, the comprehensive education opportunities in many areas of medicine, and the opportunities to focus on areas of interest.

Jordan Oliphant, MD

Medical school: University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences

Medical interests: Full spectrum family medicine, rural health, primary care, obstetrics and women's health, dermatology, behavioral health and addiction medicine.

Personal interests: I love spending time with family and friends. I especially enjoy being outside, whether it's running, camping, or being on the lake! My dog, Sophie, is my adventure buddy! I also enjoy reading and knitting. 

Why St. Cloud: I knew that I wanted to be at an unopposed program that was close to family. Having a program that had a rural focus and trained residents in full-spectrum family medicine with OB was also important to me. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting faculty and residents during my interview. Although the interview was virtual, the faculty's passion for teaching was evident! 

Madeleine Randolph, MD

Medical school: University of Minnesota Medical School

Medical interests: Full spectrum family medicine, rural medicine, geriatrics, hospice, and addiction medicine.

Personal interests: I like spending my free time soaking up as much family time as I can, going on long walks, enjoying sci/fi and fantasy books, movies, and games, and dabbling in arts and crafts.

Why St. Cloud: During my time rotating here as a medical student, I witnessed firsthand the faculty and staff's passion for fostering residents' growth and learning while also emphasizing thorough and compassionate patient care. I also appreciate that St. Cloud has elements of a "larger city" feel while still being nestled within rural Minnesota; I think this provides a diverse and unique patient population to care for and learn from. Lastly, I would love to one day establish my practice in this area and am excited to begin my residency training in the place I already call home.

Career goals: My career goals are to be a full spectrum family physician in rural central Minnesota; I also see myself expanding my knowledge and practice of addiction medicine and geriatrics.
