I was deeply passionate about attending the University of Minnesota Medical School because it held a special place in my heart—this was where I grew up, and all my formative memories were tied to this community. From elementary school memories to birthday celebrations, the relationships and experiences I have had here have shaped me into the woman I am today. My community taught me the values of compassion, kindness, and consideration for others, qualities I hoped to bring to my career in medicine. The sense of warmth and support that defined the University of Minnesota resonated with me, and it fostered an environment in which I could thrive. Additionally, the emphasis on cutting-edge research at the U of M aligned perfectly with my career goals. The opportunities for growth, learning, and collaboration at this institution were unparalleled, making it the ideal place for me to continue my education and contribute to advancing healthcare.
I was born in a small town in eastern India and moved to Minnesota at the age of three, where I’ve proudly considered myself a Minnesotan ever since. I grew up in Mounds View and graduated from Irondale High School. During high school, I had the opportunity to enroll in the PSEO program at the University of Minnesota, which marked the beginning of my Gopher journey. I went on to earn my undergraduate degrees in neuroscience and human physiology at the U of M, and immediately after graduation, I began medical school here as well. Now, in my 8th year at the University of Minnesota, I feel incredibly fortunate to call this campus my home.
The support at the University of Minnesota Medical School is truly exceptional. The faculty is deeply committed to helping students succeed, providing guidance, mentorship, and encouragement every step of the way. They understand that medical school is challenging, and they create an environment where students feel supported and empowered to thrive. With their dedication to fostering a collaborative and nurturing atmosphere, I am confident that the University of Minnesota will provide the resources and encouragement I need to succeed and reach my full potential as a future physician.
