The Medical School and the University of Minnesota Foundation invite nominations for the Outstanding Medical School Educational Innovation Award. Up to four awards will be presented, two to a Year 1 and two to a Year 2 faculty members. The faculty members selected to receive the award will each receive a $1,000 award.
The purpose of the award is to recognize faculty who have developed outstanding innovations in the education of physicians and medical students. The Medical School Honors and Awards Committee will select recipients. Medical School faculty who have previously received the award are ineligible. Nominees should be judged to have contributed substantially to innovation in medical education.
Developed outstanding courses/curricula or innovative educational programs, consistent with educational learning theory, that helped you or others to learn.
Nominations may be made by members of the Medical School community including faculty, staff, and students, residents, other departments, administrative units and medical student organizations. The nomination form and all materials should be submitted electronically as a single PDF. Nominees need to submit an educational statement (400 words or less): a supporting document from the nominee, describing their innovation in education, including teaching, program development, and advising.
