Distinguished Teaching Awards
The University of Minnesota Medical School invites medical students to participate in the selection of faculty to receive the Distinguished Teaching Awards. Awards will be made in the following categories:
- Distinguished Foundational Science Teaching Award, Yr 1
- Distinguished Foundational Science Teaching Award, Yr 2
- Distinguished Clinical Teaching Award, Primary Care, up to 2
- Distinguished Clinical Teaching Award, Specialty Medicine, up to 2
- Distinguished Teaching Award, Resident Teachers, up to 2
The Medical School aims to honor and encourage outstanding educators through these awards, recognizing the teachers most highly valued by medical students. Winners receive a recognition certificate and a $1,000 award from the Foundation. Announcement and presentation of the award is subject to the approval of the Medical School.
Nomination Process
Distinguished Foundational Science Teaching Awards: An announcement will be e-mailed to all members of the Year 1 and Year 2 classes for selection.
Distinguished Clinical Teaching and Resident Awards: Students have the opportunity to recommend preceptors/residents for teaching awards in the evaluations they complete in their rotations.
Eligibility
An individual may receive a Distinguished Teaching Award a maximum of four times.
