Awards for Excellence in Geriatric Scholarship

The University of Minnesota Foundation and the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health offer two awards to University of Minnesota medical students or residents, The University of Minnesota Medical Student Award for Excellence in Geriatric Scholarship is a $1,000 award given to the medical student who authors the best paper on a topic dealing with the health care of older adults. The University of Minnesota Medical School Resident Award for Excellence in Geriatric Scholarship is a $2,000 award given to the resident who authors the best paper on a topic dealing with the health care of older adults.

Eligibility

  • Must reflect scholarly work, such as a report of a research project, a thorough literature review, or a case study. Guidance in preparing papers can be obtained by calling Jim Pacala, M.D., M.S., at 612-624-0452.

Application process

A panel of faculty specialists will judge entries. The awards will be presented at the University of Minnesota Foundation’s Spring Honors and Awards Reception.
