Julie Mayers Benson, MD, FAAFP

Julie Benson, MD, grew up in St. Paul, MN, received her undergraduate degree at the College of St. Benedict and attended medical school at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She completed her family practice residency in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota. In 1997 she joined Lakewood Health System in rural Staples, Minnesota. Her work spans a lifetime that ranges from OB care and pediatrics to geriatrics, hospice and a palliative care program. She serves as medical director for the Hospice and Palliative Care program. She is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine. She is a past president of Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care and a current member of the Minnesota State Palliative Care Advisory Council.
