Name: Savannah Maynard (She/Her/Hers), MS2
What aspects of the curriculum at University of Minnesota Medical School are your favorite?
I love the pass/fail system that UMN employs. It has made everything feel much more collaborative and my whole class is open to helping each other and sharing resources and anki decks because there is no internal ranking. I also love the Human Sexuality course during the summer semester of MS1. There is so little emphasis on sex, sexuality, gender identities and other topics like these within general medical education across the country and it has been a great experience so far this semester.
What are your favorite things to do in Minnesota/Twin Cities area?
By far my favorite thing to do is walk around the lakes or on the many trails in the area. I also love the wide variety of museums in the cities and putt putt golf!
What are three adjectives you would use to describe your classmates?
Courageous, Passionate, Genuine
What is one of your future goals as a physician?
As a physician it is my goal to meet each patient where they are at and work with them to help them achieve their individual health goals. I want to go into OBGYN and look forward to caring for patients over many years and to make/maintain relationships with them that further inform and assist me in making treatment plans that are best suited to their healthcare goals, diagnoses and unique lives.
