Dr. Abbie Begnaud hails from Louisiana and arrived at the University of Minnesota in 2013. An inaugural diplomat of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, she is trained in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as well as general pulmonary and critical care medicine. She collaborated to launch the University of Minnesota Health Lung Cancer Screening Program and continues to oversee all its activities. Dr Begnaud has served on the board of directors of A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation and on the Minnesota Cancer Plan committee. With a goal of demoting lung cancer from the leading cancer killer, Dr Begnaud engages with community organizations to increase awareness of lung cancer prevention, early detection and improved treatment options for lung cancer.
Her research focuses on reducing the burden of lung cancer through health services research and community engaged approaches to early detection (screening) for all eligible persons, as well as improving timely and guideline-based precision therapy for lung cancer.
