Clifford Steer, MD

Steer devotes the majority of his time doing research and serving on a number of medical school and University-wide committees. As an example, he recently stepped down as chair of the Senate Committee on Faculty Aff airs where he served for six years; in addition to the DOM PSTP, for which he was director since 2012. He is the newly elected University Senate Clerk for the coming academic
year, and co-chair of FACHS, together with many other committees on which he serves. Steer is PI of a 5-year R01 NIH grant focused on creating human livers in pigs for transplantation, which ends on August 1, 2027. He is also the PI of a recently submitted GI T32 Training Grant, which will be reviewed by the NIH study section in late fall of 2025. He continues to mentor many students, both undergraduate, graduate and medical students, in addition to faculty members at both the junior, mid and senior levels. He is an active participant of RPAP and continues to teach in both undergraduate and medical school courses on an as needed basis.
