Dr. Ojo is a general pediatrician with global health training and a strong interest in equitable access to healthcare and preventive services. After completing medical school at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, and internship at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos State, he worked for a brief period in the private and public health sector in Nigeria as a general physician. Then, he proceeded to the US for public health training at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Ifelayo worked as a consultant with the World Bank Group for a few years focused mainly on the Health in Africa Initiative before pursuing graduate medical education in pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. He was honored to serve as Chief Resident in Global Pediatrics at the end of residency, which included some months of service at Mbingo Baptist Hospital in Cameroon.
Ifelayo currently cares for children and adolescents at Hennepin Healthcare System. He combines his clinical practice with medical education at the University of Minnesota Medical School where he is a course co-director for the Clinical Skills course and teaches global health to resident doctors. Dr. Ojo's career goal is to help children thrive and achieve their full potential. He remains passionate about local and global health advocacy as well as research to improve health and promote optimal development of children in Minnesota, Nigeria and all over the world.
