Dr. Cogswell completed her internship, residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She stayed at UCSF for Cardiology Fellowship and then completed an Advanced Clinical Research Training Program. She came to the University of Minnesota for Advanced Heart Failure Fellowship and then joined the University of Minnesota Faculty in 2012. Dr. Cogswell specializes in Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support, and Cardiac Transplantation. Her research focus is on sarcopenia in advanced heart failure. She has also performed several analyses of US heart transplant data that have uncovered disparities in waitlist outcomes by race and sex. She is currently the Advanced Heart Failure Section Leader at the University of Minnesota and is also the medical director of the Transplant Registry of the International Society of Heart Lung Transplant.
