Dr. Sami Safadi earned his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in Syria and subsequently completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Indiana University, Indianapolis. Seeking further specialization, he pursued dual fellowships, first in Nephrology and Hypertension at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and then in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
During his fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Safadi the Bronze Level Certification from the Mayo Clinic Quality Academy. Following his training, he remained at the Mayo Clinic, first as an Instructor of Medicine and subsequently as Assistant Professor of Medicine. He also served in various leadership roles, notably as Department Chair of Nephrology at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Following his critical care training at the University of Maryland, Dr. Safadi developed specialized expertise in Point-of-Care Ultrasound and Mechanical Ventilation He attained Critical Care Ultrasonography Certification from the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) and certification in Mechanical Ventilation Precepting at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He is a diplomate in Critical Care Echocardiography, conferred by the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE).
Currently, he holds dual roles as a Nephrologist and Intensivist and at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, where he also serves as Medical Director of Inpatient Adult Acute Dialysis.
