Catalog Description:  This hospital-based course is designed for students with special interest in the clinical and basic neurosciences who desire additional experience in clinical neurology. The majority of the subintern's time is spent performing inpatient consultations under the supervision of a senior resident and/or staff neurologist. Students are able to attend conference with the neurology residents. This course is designed primarily for students considering a career in neurology.

Typical weekly schedule/Delivery Mode:  M-F, 7:00am-7:00pm working directly with senior resident or attending neurologist on the general neurology service

Consent Requirement: Open to student scheduling

Course Objectives:  This course provides the subintern with an opportunity to refine clinical skills established during the neurology clerkship and to have intensive and independent contact with patients with neurological disease in a setting of increased responsibility. Special emphasis is placed upon the fundamentals of neurologic practice: anatomic localization, differential diagnosis, and the selective use of adjunctive laboratory investigations and neurodiagnostic procedures.
