Catalog Description: The Pediatric Surgical Service at the University of Minnesota is a team involved in the preoperative, operative and postoperative surgical care for neonates, infants, children and adolescents. While supervised by residents and attendings, students taking this course will actively participate in all aspects of patient care in a variety of settings including the operating room, inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, and the emergency room.

Required session attendance: Weekly Morbidity & Mortality and Grand Rounds conferences

Typical weekly schedule/Delivery Mode: M-F and one weekend day per week.  Time of morning rounds varies based on clinical needs, but will typically start at 6:00am.  The day finishes between 3:00-8:00pm, depending on the clinical needs.  Students are expected to be available for interesting cases that may arrive during the nights.
