Catalog Description: Introduces foundational knowledge and skills needed for learning clinical medicine. ECM will complement the Scientific Foundations education and prepare students to fully engage in clinical rotations in Years 3 and 4. The course consists of two main components:

●Clinical Skills – Physical Exam & Interview Tutorials: Focuses on communication with patients, interviewing skills, physical exams skills, ultrasound basics and professionalism. Clinical Skills Tutorials are coordinated with basic science and anatomy.

●Medical Arts and Social Sciences (MAS): An introduction to quality improvement, patient safety, health equity, health policy, and public health.

Prior to Fall 2019, this course was 5 credit hours.
