Catalog Description: Covers the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for learning clinical medicine. The course complements Scientific Foundations course-work within the MS1 required curriculum, and prepare students to fully engage in clinical rotations in Years 3 and 4.
Consists of two main concepts:
- Clinical Skills - Physical Exam and Interview tutorials: focuses on communication with patients, interviewing skills, physical exams skills, and professionalism. Clinical Skills Tutorials are coordinated with foundational science curriculum.
- Medical Arts and Social Sciences (MAS) - Ethics and Social Sciences: An introduction to core clinical ethics and key social science topics.
- Longitudinal Project: Students will be required to complete a longitudinal project either individually or in groups. This aspect of the course will be introduced year 1 and conclude during the spring of year 2.
