Catalog Description: Foundations of Clinical Thinking (FCT) is a case-based course that links clinical scenarios and scientific foundations components of the curriculum through small group, facilitator supported sessions. Students develop a patient-centered approach to analyzing clinical situations, one that is informed by the literature and considers multiple perspectives and issues across the biopsychosocial-cultural continuum. Students develop reflective practices and comfort with the ambiguity that exists in clinical practice. The course enhances students’ ability to work together in teams and highlights the importance of teamwork throughout their medical career.
