Two Alumni Recognized by the American College of Radiology

The American College of Radiology (ACR) recently recognized two University of Minnesota Medical School alumni as 2020 ACR Fellows—one of the organization’s highest awards that has been given to only 10% of its members. 

This year’s recipients include Michael Rosenberg, MD, ’90, an associate professor in the Department of Radiology, and Chris Jackson, MD, ’89, a neuroradiologist with the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. 

An ACR fellow has demonstrated service to the organization, evidenced significant contributions in scientific and clinical research in the field of radiology, made a lasting impact to the literature and/or provided outstanding work as a teacher of radiology.

Dr. Rosenberg completed all of his medical education and training at the Medical School, including a residency in diagnostic radiology in 1996 and a fellowship in cardiovascular and interventional radiology in 1997. Today, he trains the next generation of radiologists at the Medical School, leads new research in the field and provides care for patients at the M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center - Minneapolis.

“I am greatly humbled and honored by becoming a fellow of the ACR,” Dr. Rosenberg said. “Rather than being a reflection of my accomplishments, this achievement is motivation to continue to serve and mentor the radiology community for the betterment of patient care.”

Dr. Jackson, too, completed all of his medical education and training at the Medical School, including a residency in radiology in 1994 and two fellowships—one in 1995 in neuroradiology and another in 1996 in advanced neuroradiology. He has served the Twin Cities area since 1998, starting at St. Paul Radiology before joining the team at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System in 2017.

“We seldom work for awards. Rather, we contribute our best, and take part in shaping our future,” Dr. Jackson said. “I am honored for the recognition as a fellow by the ACR. I will continue to contribute, educate and serve the radiology and medical community.”
