Anne Pereira, MD, MPH, FACP, named Assistant Dean for Curriculum in the Medical School

The Office of Medical Education is pleased to announce that Anne Pereira, MD, MPH, FACP, is being promoted to the position of Assistant Dean for Curriculum. Previously the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education, Dr. Pereira will now provide oversight, vision, and strategy across the curriculum in Undergraduate Medical Education program and brings outstanding skills in strategic thinking and leadership in addition to wonderful content expertise to the position.

Prior to taking the position of Assistant Dean for Clinical Education in 2014, Dr. Pereira was the program director of the internal medicine residency program at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), developed and served as co-program director of the combined emergency medicine/internal medicine residency program, and served as assistant chief for education and faculty development in the HCMC Department of Medicine. She earned her M.D. degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1995, and during her general internal medicine fellowship also completed an M.P.H. focusing on clinical effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health.

“Anne is the ideal candidate to lead us in our vision of co-producing the world’s best physicians, researchers and educators for Minnesota and beyond. She will continue to develop and improve our curriculum while also optimizing the integration of foundational and clinical sciences across four years of undergraduate medical school,” said Bob Englander, MD, MPH, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education. “Anne stands out as a leader, as an educator, and as a clinician — and she is a master collaborator, which will help her navigate the complexities of our curriculum.”

This cost-neutral reorganization also comes with increased operational support. The curriculum team will continue to be served by Brad Clarke as Director of the Foundational Science Curriculum, and the addition of a new Director of Clinical Immersion and Enrichment Curriculum position.

Please join us in congratulating Anne on this well-deserved promotion.
