Building Relationships: Students in Duluth organized a community forum between nurses and physicians
Amid staffing crises and healthcare worker burnout, our Duluth medical students hosted a community panel, advocating for strengthened relationships between nurses and physicians.
The panelists, representing local hospitals, discussed ways future physicians can be mindful when working with nurses.
The nurses said having doctors who listen and advocate to administration when they witness unsafe situations will go a long way, working as a team.
“They’re teaching me everything they know. They’re some of my greatest teachers," Dakota MacColl, first-year medical student, said. "I think when we’re looking at the future of physician-nurse relationships and interdependent teamwork between physicians, ancillary teams and even the public, they’re not teaching us that here.”
