Dept. of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health Faculty Members Awarded for Their Contributions to Medicine
Rising Stars: Five physicians from the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health recieved recognition as "Rising Stars" for 2017 from the Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. The five physicians recognized include:

Sarah Hutto, Obstetrics & Gynecology
To recieve such recognition candidates must have been fully licensed to practice for 10 years or less. They are then chosen by peers in their respective field and are evaluated on numerous factors, including professional achievement, review by an expert panel, research and disciplinary history. This year 90 doctors affiliated with University of Minnesota Physicians were included in the list.
Ann Forster Page, DNP, APRN, CNM and Carrie Neerland, MS, APRN, CNM, PhD Candidate were elected as Fellows into the American College of Nurse-Midwives. Only three other Certified Nurse-Midwives from Minnesota have received this honor in the past.
Ashley Mooneyham, Doctoral Candidate, Bazzaro Lab, was awarded a $28,376 UMN Training Grant to investigate a member of the UCS protein family. Ashley's research will focus on UNC-45A, as a novel protein with microtubule destabilizing activity whose over-expression in cancer cells antagonizes the effect of paclitaxel.
