On Friday, The University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth Campus welcomed the incoming class of 2022 with the annual White Coat Ceremony, as they embark on this new journey toward becoming physicians. By holding this meaningful ceremony, students become aware of their responsibilities as physicians right from the start of their medical education.

Pockets of the coats were filled with notes that were sent in with gifts sponsoring the white coats. These ranged from nostalgic memories from alumni at their ceremony to well wishes from parents for their child.

The class of 2022 has 65 students. It’s the largest incoming class ever for the school.

“Me and all of my classmates have been working for years to get into medical school,” said first-year medical student, Lauren Summers. “To finally be here and feel the white coat and be surrounded by classmates, it was just an awe–inspiring moment.”
