Minnesota Medical Researchers Developing Vaccines to Treat Opioid Abuse

Heroin and prescription opioid abuse is currently a public health emergency in the United States. But researchers from the University of Minnesota Medical School are developing vaccines to ward off opioid addiction. The vaccine would harness the body's own immune system and create antibodies that target and stop opioids from reaching the brain.

The study was published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
