Mitigating the barriers for living donors in Minnesota is critical to saving lives through organ transplantation

Starting today, Monday, August 1 - Minnesotans will be protected under the new Living Donor Protection Act, removing disincentives and discrimination by insurers or any other condition based solely on donor status. 

Vanessa Humphreville, MD, FACS, director of Living Kidney Donation and assistant professor in the Department of Surgery's Division of Transplantation, has been advocating with her partners at the National Kidney Foundation for the past four years to get the legislation pushed through for our region's selfless living donors.
