Thomas Hays, PhD, to Lead Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development

The University of Minnesota Medical School and College of Biological Sciences have announced the appointment of Thomas Hays, PhD, as the new department head of the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development.

Dr. Hays is currently the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Biological Sciences (CBS) where he has been instrumental in growing the college's research output. Dr. Hays also heads a lab that studies the molecular regulation of motor proteins and intercellular transport.

As Department Head, his responsibilities will include oversight of the research, instructional, creative, and outreach activities of faculty, aligning collegiate and departmental plans and programs.
