Women's Health Research Program Adds New Scholar

The Women's Health Research Program is excited to announce the newest Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health Scholar to join the BIRCWH Program. 

Megan Paulsen, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics' Division of Neonatology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Her award will begin on February 14, 2019, and end on February 13, 2021. Her project is titled: Maternal-Fetal Programming of Energy Homeostasis in the Development of Obesity and Metabolic Disease. We look forward to her contributions to our program and learning community.

Megan, who is originally from the New England area, completed her medical school degree at the University of Vermont and both her pediatric and neonatal-perinatal post-graduate medical training at the University of Colorado. She joined the University of Minnesota faculty on the academic research track in 2017. Megan is a physician-scientist with research interests in maternal-fetal health, specifically the programming of metabolic disease in the fetus following exposure to maternal obesity and diabetes. She uses a mouse model of maternal obesity to study programming effects on energy homeostasis in offspring at various time points from birth to adulthood. She is thrilled to be joining the BIRCWH Scholar K12 Training Program. In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband Josh and her energetic puppy Izzy.
