Pre-Premed: Pipeline Efforts Steer Elementary School Students into Medicine

Elementary school aged kids are being encouraged to pursue a career in medicine more than ever. Medical schools are hoping the early interest could help medically underserved communities in the future. â€śWe so desperately need our Native kids to graduate,” said Anna Wirta-Kosobuski, PhD, University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth campus. “We need our kids to be able to [pursue health careers to] take care of our own people, and that’s just not happening enough.”
