Dr.Murugan is a board-certified anatomic pathologist specializing in genitourinary and soft tissue/bone tumors. Beyond his clinical diagnostic expertise, he is actively involved in resident/fellow education, and translational research. He has received multiple best teacher awards, authored over 95 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to several R01 NIH grants. Dr.Murugan has delivered numerous scientific meeting presentations, authored book chapters and has lectured nationally and internationally. He is an associate editor of Diagnostic Pathology and editorial board member of the Annals of Diagnostic Pathology. Additionally, as a member of the College of American Pathologists' Cancer Committee, he has co-authored multiple genitourinary, soft tissue and bone cancer reporting protocols. Dr.Murugan also serves as Director of the University of Minnesota's Surgical Pathology Fellowship Program and Medical Director of the University’s Biorepository and Laboratory Services.
