Catalog Description:Â Students will participate in the evaluation and management of the acute and chronic cardiovascular disease problems as they occur in the inpatient cardiology consultation service. Supervised electrocardiographic interpretation sessions are available to allow development of skills in electrocardiography. Students will attend cardiovascular clinical conferences as well as informal didactic teaching conferences. Recommended reading assignment:Â Manual of Cardiovascular Medicine, 4th Edition, edited by Brian P. Grivvin, or the cardiology section of any medicine textbook.

Course Objectives:Â
This course will provide an introduction to the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease occurring in adults. It will provide ample patient and laboratory material in a setting of preceptored learning to facilitate development of skills in:
- physical diagnosis of the cardiovascular system;
- interpretation of electrocardiograms;
- use of the laboratory in cardiovascular diagnosis; and
- clinical management of cardiovascular disease.
