Cardiovascular, Resp.,Renal, Acid-base Medicine (CRRAB) I

Catalog description: CRRAB I reviews the cardiovascular sysstem. The basic learning paradigm of CRRAB is based on the active participation of students. Didactic lectures are, on purpose, kept to a minimum and the problem based learning (PBL) cases are a major component of the learning experience. Additional instructional formats include lectures, laboratories, small group activities, and self-directed study. In all cases, an attempt is made to integrate the anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, and clinical medicine for each topic. The emphasis for CRRAB is on mechanisms of disease, global (non-linear) thinking, and application of knowledge rather than simple recall of facts. This approach will foster the retention of knowledge, life-long learning skills and development of critical thinking skills that are essential for effective physicians.

Prior to Fall 2020, this course was 7 credit hours.
