Catalog Description: This is the core clinical course in Ob/Gyn for Year Three medical students consisting of a four-week experience in obstetrics and gynecology. All students will meet for Problem-Based Learning sessions addressing clinical aspects involved in common obstetric and gynecological problems twice during the 4-week period. Students will participate in clinical procedures, deliveries and surgical operations. Students may be on a day/night float schedule or traditional call during L&D.

Required session attendance:
Typical weekly schedule/Delivery Mode: Vaires per site. Content to cover 2 weeks general OB clinic, 1 week L&D and 1 week Gyn surgery. Day/night float schedule or traditional call may apply to the rotation.

Course Objectives: This course will introduce the student to the practice of obstetrics and gynecology and care of the female patient. Objectives for the course are:
- Students will develop competence in performing and documenting the medical interview and physical examination of women, incorporating ethical, social and diversity perspectives to deliver culturally appropriate care.
- Students will develop competence in performing a complete breast and pelvic examination.
- Students will develop an understanding of the role of preventative care for women.
- Students will acquire knowledge regarding the diagnosis of common Obstetric and Gynecologic conditions and diseases, and will formulate management/therapeutic plans for these conditions.

- Clinical assessment by attending
- Attendance at Orientation and required lectures
- Participation in Problem-Based Learning Sessions
- NBME Shelf Exam
