Catalog Description:  Students will receive in-depth exposure to diagnosis and management of female pelvic floor disorders. It is recommended that students take this course in Period SP3 or SP4 of year 3 or during year 4. Students will be under the guidance of the Urogynecology faculty. Students will be involved in both the inpatient and outpatient care of Urogynecology practice including the diagnosis and treatment of: urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, pelvic and bladder pain. Students will see urodynamic studies, office and surgical cystoscopy, complex surgical correction of pelvic floor disorders including sacral neuromodulation, midurethral slings, and sacralcolpopexy.

Typical weekly schedule/Delivery Mode:  Students work closely with the Urogynecology Staff. Student will be involved with inpatient and outpatient care of the Urogynecology practice. Overnight call is not assigned, but can be taken at discretion of student.  Student schedule will be assigned prior to rotation.  Schedule will be a Monday - Friday schedule. Clinical and Surgical days may vary weekly.  Typical times are:

  • Clinic:  8:00am-5:00pm
  • Surgical and Rounding:  7:00am - 5:00pm
