Dr. Dongming Cai, director of the N. Bud Grossman Center for Memory Research and Care at the University of Minnesota Medical School, spoke to WCCO about memory issues and what’s considered typical as people age. “When you should be concerned about it, in general, if someone is consistently struggling with finding the right words during conversations, struggling with directions or navigation, having trouble managing daily routines or forgetting important events or appointments,” Dr. Cai said. “These could be signs of cognitive impairment that may  be more significant memory issues.” But then again, Dr. Cai says that sometimes it is normal to forget a name every once in a while, especially if you are distracted or under high stress.
