Medical School Education Comittee
Committee Responsibilities
The Medical School Education Committee (MSEC) acts as the Curriculum Committee (LCME) carrying out the educational agenda of the Medical School as designated by the Dean. They serve as the approval body for final decisions in curriculum and policy changes/additions/deletions.
A. Discuss major educational issues and determine/approve changes based on recommendations from ESC, TCSFC, CEC, DUSFC, and Office of UME
B. Ensure implementation of the curriculum according to approved principles and policies
C. Review data (including State of the Curriculum report, ad-hoc task group reports, and TCSFC/CEC/DUSFC reports) to ensure that the Twin Cities and Duluth achieve comparable outcomes
D. Ensure horizontal and vertical integration in the curriculum (bi-campus)
E. Identify topic areas that are to be addressed by ad-hoc task force groups
Committee Members
The Medical School Education Committee is composed of more than 30 voting members, including Medical School and curriculum leaders, faculty members, directors of UME for major affiliates, residents, and students from both campuses.
Monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month from 4:00pm – 5:00pm via Zoom. Once per quarter the meetings are offered in a hybrid format from 3:00 – 5:00pm.
