Why I Chose the University of Minnesota Medical School

One aspect of the U of M Medical School that’s really stood out to me is the receptiveness of the professors and educators in adjusting to student feedback. Every course has a student liaison through whom we can provide feedback and suggestions directly to the professors, and we’ll often get a response back within 1-2 days with accompanying feasible changes made soon after.

Community Involvement

Overall, it was a combination of the friendly environment, the diverse research and clinical training opportunities, the proximity to my home in Canada, and the generosity of the school with financial aid. During my interviews, I got to speak with a few standardized patients that help train the U of M medical students. As non-healthcare workers, their unique perspectives and genuine joy in describing the positive and inclusive teaching environment and friendly student body was infectious and really made U of M stand out.
