Emily Kringle, PhD, OTR/L is an assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology where she leads the Physical Activity and Health Promotion emphasis area and directs the Disability and WELLness (DWELL) Laboratory. She is also graduate faculty in the Rehabilitation Science Graduate Program. Dr. Kringle holds an MOT in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on the development of behavioral interventions to promote physically active and socially engaged lifestyles among adults with neurological-related disability.

Dr. Kringle's program of research explores the role of individual behavior change, interpersonal relationships, and the community environment in facilitating engagement in physical activity and social participation across the continuum of care after stroke. Her research uses methodologies aligned with rigorous models for phased behavioral intervention development, including early-phase mixed methods designs and behavioral clinical trials. She also has expertise in accelerometry for sedentary behavior measurement.
