Registration

Twin Cities Process

Twin Cities students are enrolled by the Medical School Registrar on a semester basis during their full academic career. Duluth students will be enrolled by the Medical School Registrar during their third and fourth year of medical school only. Students are registered according to the approximate times listed below.

Semester Registration
Fall Late July
Spring Late November
Summer Late March

Although the Medical School Registrar processes each student’s semester enrollment, the student is ultimately responsible for making sure they are registered for the correct courses each term and that they have been billed correctly. Students will receive an electronic billing statement via their U of M email address each semester, which will detail tuition and fee charges and account credits (e.g. financial aid). Each student will be required to pay their bill via their MyU > My Finance tab by each billing due date.

Holds

Holds block students from being registered. They are placed on students’ record for multiple reasons. A few of the more common reasons are listed below.

  • Failure to pay tuition bill on time
  • Failure to pay U of M health insurance bill
  • Non-Compliance with the Medical School requirements

Registration holds will stop all financial awards from being disbursed and will not be eligible for U of M health insurance. Check your MyU account for any holds prior to each semester.

For questions regarding your enrollment and holds please contact the Medical School Registrar, Jennifer Neufeld, at 612-625-4489 or [email protected].
